Goals written measurably

A goal you can state clearly
is a goal you can judge.

Turn a goal draft into a complete OKR: objective, key results, measurement basis, and baseline. No current figure means “to be measured”. A metric nobody can define is called out as not yet a key result.

Review the OKRs

Your result will appear here

We separate direction from metric, give each key result a basis and a baseline slot, mark goals that cannot be measured, and list the figures you need to confirm.

SAMPLE OUTPUT

Here is exactly what you receive.

This is the complete output for the source text in the demo above: a measurability score, itemised revisions, goals that do not hold up and why, items to confirm, and the drafted OKRs. It is a demonstration, not a customer case.

01

Turn direction into an observable key result

“Greatly improve the user experience” becomes the share of new users completing the core flow on day one, with numerator and denominator defined.

02

Add the basis and data source

Unit, data source, and period are written out, and the report and owner are marked as still needing assignment so nobody counts differently later.

03

Leave baseline and target open

The draft has no current value, so the baseline reads “to be measured” and the target “to be set”, with both added to the confirmation list.

Drafted OKRs
# Objective (O): let new users complete the core flow on their first visit

## Key results

**KR1: raise the share of new users who complete the core flow on day one**
- Basis: new users completing one full order on their registration day / new users registered that day
- Data source: behavioural event tracking; the specific report and owner are to be assigned
- Target: to be set after the baseline is known
- Baseline: to be measured

TODO: fill the baseline from the event-tracking report
TODO: set the target after the baseline is established; the source does not give one

---

**Parts of the draft that do not hold up**
- “Strengthen team collaboration”: describes no observable result and cannot become a key result. To keep it, state the concrete change it produces.
- “Achieve visible growth”: no indicator, basis, or period is named.

TODO: if these belong in this cycle, supply the corresponding indicator and data source.

WHAT DRAFTING DOES

The hard part is not the target. It is how you count it.

01

Separate direction from metric

“Improve the experience” is direction; “first-screen load under 1.5 seconds” is a key result. Mix them and nobody can judge attainment.

02

State the basis for every result

Unit, data source, period, and what counts as one occurrence — miss one and at the end of the cycle two people are counting different things.

03

Keep the baseline slot even when empty

No current value? Write “to be measured”. An empty slot costs far less than a guessed number you later have to correct.

WHY IT IS WORTH DOING

An unclear goal always ends in an argument.

01

“Improve” is not a result

“Greatly improve the user experience” cannot be judged. Turn it into a measurable indicator and there is something to discuss.

02

Mismatched counting hurts morale

The team counts sessions while you count people. Both numbers are “right” at the end and nobody accepts the outcome.

03

An invented baseline stays wrong

Guess a current value and every later comparison, report, and review is built on it.

Note: common goal-setting practice holds that key results should be observable and judgeable rather than descriptions of activity. Organisations differ widely in scoring approach and cycle design. This site drafts documents only; it verifies no data and offers no management consulting advice.

DRAFTING DEMO

The same goal, organised.

Before

This quarter we will greatly improve the user experience, strengthen team collaboration, make the product better, and achieve visible growth next quarter.

WHY YOU CAN TRUST IT

We put “no invented baselines” into our product principles.

Baselines are never filled in

No current value in the material means “to be measured”. Guessing one puts every later comparison on the wrong footing.

Every key result needs a basis

Unit, data source, period, and what counts as one occurrence: miss any of them and we flag it rather than writing a sentence that merely looks complete.

No promise of attainment

We do not write “will be reached” or “expected to exceed”. Key results are what you aim at; how hard they are is your call and your team's.

FAQ

Ask these before you pay.

What if I have no baseline data?

It is written as “to be measured” and listed for confirmation. We do not supply a current value or infer historical results. Pull it from your report, then fill it in.

Can every goal become a key result?

No. Some goals describe activity or a state and have no observable outcome. We say plainly that such a goal does not hold up, and tell you what it needs.

Will you set the target value?

Not for you. Targets are a judgement about difficulty, made once the baseline exists. Without a baseline we leave the target open too.

What does one draft cost?

One credit per run, usually done in seconds, returning the OKRs, the revision notes, and items to confirm.

Do credits expire?

No. Credits never expire — whatever you do not use carries over to the next cycle instead of resetting.

Is there batch processing or an API?

Not yet. Each run processes one document and consumes one credit; there is no bulk upload or API today. Email us with your use case and we will assess it.

Is my content stored?

Not intentionally. Text is used for this single AI request only. See the Privacy Policy.

What content fits?

Quarterly or annual goal drafts, first passes at team OKRs, next-step directions from a retrospective, personal work goals — any intention that needs to become a measurable result.
